Hanan Motawie to Star Alongside Nelly Karim in Film "Happy Birthday"

Egyptian actress Hanan Motawie is set to star alongside Nelly Karim in her upcoming social thriller film "Happy Birthday".

Hanan Youssef and Sherif Salama are also on board. 

The film marks Motawie's comeback to the big screen after three years of absence. She made her last onscreen appearance in the 2020 film “Fragile".

The cast also starred Rania Shahin, Fatma Adel, Amr Gamal, khaled khattab, Hanan Youssef, Essam Nagaty, Mohamed Radwan, and several rising stars such as Karim Al Attar, Mohamed Al Mougi, Nagi Shehata, and Tony Robert.

The film was screened at the various international and regional festivals, and received several prizes such as the Best Feature and Best Actress awards at the Egyptian American Film and Arts Festival in New York, the Best Actress award at Al-Amal Film Festival in Sweden. 

“Fragile" hails from filmmaker Ahmed Rashwan and is centered around Nancy who is preparing to immigrate within days to join her family in Canada. 

During those days, she goes through several ordeals that showcases her relationship with a number of characters before she travels.

Hanan Motawie

Motawie, born on February 23, 1979, is the daughter of acclaimed actress Soheir Al Morshedy and the late actor Karam Motawie.

She graduated from Cairo University and began her career in the 2001 TV series "Hadeeth El Sabah we el Masaa."

Motawie is known for roles in films such as "Yom W Leila", "Has", "Al Ghaba" (The Forest), "Heliopolis", and "Qas we Lazq", a performance that earned her won Best Supporting Actress.

Her television credits also include "El Qahera: Kabul", "Ella Ana" season 1, "El-Rehla", "Ded Maghool", "Halawt Al-Dunia", "Taqat Nour", "Hadha almasa", "Wanus" "Sara","Awlad El Shawarea", "Aghla men Hyati", "Azmet Sokkar", "Wekalet Ateyya".
