Cairo Opera House's Al Hanager Theater will display the famous play Modern Phase of Carmen on 25th of June at 8 PM. The performance will be available for 2 successive weeks and the ticket costs 30 pounds.

The play’s old phase was written by Prosper Mérimée; a renowned French writer and  the new phase was produced by Reem Hegab; daughter of the late poet Sayed Hegab.

Also, the famous Ballet Carmen show is going to be displayed on the Grand Theater of Cairo Opera House, that will be replayed during these month.

The play reviews the traditional story of the Spanish Gypsy Carmen that believes in the absolute love and freedom regardless customs and traditions.

This show is distinguished by the existence of so many dialogues between actors. This gives the impression that all female models represent Carmen and all male models represent Khosya; her lover who will kill her at the end.

During the show, any female model wears a specific skirt and flower becomes Carmen.

One other great thing is that some emotional scenes are performed in 2 simultaneous ways; a normal one by specific people beside a silent expression performance done by others.

The audience is going to experience a live redecoration as well as seeing the dressing room on the stage for the first time. They will feel as if they are attending a work shop not a final show.

On the other hand, the scene of Skamillo’s victory over the raging bull is performed concurrently with another scene where Khosya kills Carmen. At the end of the scene, both Carmen and the bull’s bodies will lie on the ground beside each others as if both of them were guilty.

Finally, Khosya will appear as a hero who avenged Carmen’s betrayal; as she fell in love with other person during his absence.

The play fails to make the audience sympathize with Carmen and her right to choose her love. Also, the repeated and successive group performance made some scenes seem boring.
