A Palestinian official familiar with the talks of the exchange of prisoners in Gaza said that the Hamas movement suspended negotiations over the hostages yesterday, Sunday, because of what Israel is doing towards Al-Shifa Hospital, according to what Reuters reported.
The hospital is under heavy fire as Israeli forces approach it. Israel accuses Hamas of using the hospital as a cover for one of its command centers, without providing evidence of this, while Hamas denies these accusations.
On the other hand, statements varied about the fate of the negotiations related to the release of Israeli prisoners held by the Hamas and other Palestinian-resistant factions.
US National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan said that there are efforts to release the hostages, without clarifying the details.
However, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu also told NBC: “There could be an agreement, but I think the less I say about it, the better the chances of achieving it.”
