A senior Hamas delegation has arrived in Cairo to take part in renewed discussions aimed at advancing the second phase of the Gaza ceasefire agreement, as part of ongoing Egyptian mediation efforts to stabilize the situation and move the political process forward.
The talks are expected to focus on mechanisms for implementing the next stage of the truce, including security arrangements, humanitarian access, and the future administration of the Gaza Strip. One of the key proposals under discussion is the formation of an independent Palestinian administrative committee to oversee day-to-day governance and support reconstruction efforts in the post-war period.
Egyptian officials are working with Palestinian factions to narrow differences and ensure that commitments made under the ceasefire are fully implemented. The second phase is seen as critical for consolidating calm, facilitating large-scale reconstruction, and preventing a return to hostilities.
The Cairo meetings come amid continued international pressure to secure a lasting ceasefire, guarantee the flow of aid, and revive a broader political process that could lead to a comprehensive and sustainable settlement.
