The Oscar-winning actress added that the project was very special to her, not just because it is her directorial debut, but also because MMA is a sport that she absolutely loves and is a genre that has always been winning.
"Bruised" had already received its worldwide premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival in September 2020.
The movie is centered around disgraced MMA fighter, Jackie Justice (Berry), as she faces one of the rising stars in the field, while also dealing with the return of her six-year-old son.
It also features Shamier Anderson as an encouraging MMA league owner and Valentina Shevchenko as Berry's main rival.
"Bruised" also stars Adan Canto, Sheila Atim, Stephen McKinley Henderson, and others.
