Head of the Actors’ Syndicate, actor Ashraf Zaki announced Saturday Egyptian actress Hala Shiha has been banned and her membership was permanently suspended from the syndicate.
The decision comes after her recent conflict with Tamer Hosny over the film "Mesh Ana" (This Is Not Me).
Hosny collaborated with Shiha on “Mesh Ana” 18 months ago, but the film release was delayed due to the coronavirus outbreak and only hit cinemas this month.
As soon as the film’s promotion began, Shiha wrote a post wishing the film crew luck but declared that she was not part of the film because when shot the film she was a different person from who she currently was. She did not attend the special screening of the film.
The actress married Egyptian preacher Moez Masoud last February and her projects have since decreased.
Zaki noted, during a phone-in with TV presenter Amr Adib on “Al-Hekaya” program broadcast on MBC Masr, that Shiha her membership was previously suspended from the Syndicate after she retired from acting for the first time 11 years ago.
He stated that the Syndicate had granted her a temporary permit to resume acting, however, after her recent remarks, it was decided to permanently write her off from the Syndicate.
