In exclusive remarks to See News, Haider Majid, spokesperson for Iraq’s Cabinet Secretariat, said Baghdad is taking a leading role in shaping a modern and more unified Arab media landscape during its participation in the 55th session of the Council of Arab Information Ministers held Wednesday at the Arab League headquarters in Cairo.
Majid explained that Iraq joined the meeting with a fully coordinated delegation representing the Iraqi Media Network, the Communications and Media Commission, and the Cabinet Secretariat. He noted that this unified presence reflects Iraq’s commitment to elevating Arab media cooperation and defending regional priorities, especially the Palestinian cause.
“Iraq is not just attending; it is actively contributing to building a more responsible and influential Arab media system,” Majid told See News. He emphasized that Iraq supports all recommendations issued by the council, particularly those aimed at combating hate speech, promoting factual reporting, and exposing violations against the Palestinian people at both Arab and international levels.
Majid added that Iraq strongly backs the establishment of the Arab Digital Media Committee, describing it as a necessary step toward developing digital capabilities, enhancing content regulation, and expanding the use of advanced technologies and artificial intelligence in Arab media institutions.
He stressed that Iraq enjoys broad media freedoms and continues to monitor negative digital phenomena, reaffirming Baghdad’s commitment to strengthening professional standards and collaboration across the Arab media sphere.
