Luhansk Governor Serhiy Haidai said that the Russian forces now control about 80% of the region in eastern Ukraine.

Haidai added in a statement on Telegram that late on Wednesday Rubizhne and Popasna cities in Luhansk are “partially” under Russian control, pointing out the outbreak of violent clashes and the bombing increase in weeks to control those two cities.

Since the start of the Russian invasion on February 24, separatists from the self-proclaimed Luhansk People’s Republic have controlled about 30% of the region.

It is reported that about 70,000 are still in the Luhansk region.

Haidai mentioned that if there is a ceasefire on the Orthodox Easter, next Sunday, the Ukrainian authorities will endeavor as much as possible to evacuate the people and deliver the humanitarian aid during this occasion.
