The Israeli newspaper Haaretz quoted an Israeli source stating that estimates suggest talks between Washington and Tehran are likely to collapse amid stalling efforts.
The source explained that U.S. President Donald Trump is seeking to conclude the campaign, noting that the extension of the final deadline reflects his attempt to exhaust all diplomatic avenues before potentially taking escalatory measures.
The source further indicated that Israel has a prepared "bank of targets" should Trump decide to follow through on his threats, which includes potential strikes on energy facilities and infrastructure inside Iran.
On the other hand, Israel is also preparing for an alternative scenario in which the Iranian government might show flexibility and agree to a ceasefire deal, potentially opening the door to a temporary de-escalation.
