Grammy Award-winning artist H.E.R. teamed up with Amazon's The Drop to create a limited-time loungewear line.
The Drop is notorious for releasing fashion collections that are live for only 30 hours or less.
The line, which came stylish and affordable, was the epitome of "loungewear on the go". It features an array of comfortable hoodies, shoes, sweatpants, bags, and accessories.
The collaboration also served as an ode to the musician's Filipino heritage, California roots, and ties to Brooklyn, New York.
"There are two places that really made me who I am — my hometown of Vallejo, California, and Brooklyn, New York where I’ve spent a lot of time," H.E.R. said in a statement.
"I'm also half Filipino, and I wanted to include something that represented my culture. These places all really contributed to my growth as an artist and as a woman, and it was important for me to represent all of them in my collection." she added.
On the other hand, H.E.R. has landed her first major acting role in Blitz Bazawule’s movie adaptation of the Broadway musical “The Color Purple” for Warner Bros.
The singer plays Squeak, who goes from a juke joint waitress to an aspiring singer in the musical. The role was previously played by Rae Dawn Chong in Steven Spielberg’s 1985 movie.
It also stars Ciara, Fantasia Barrino, Danielle Brooks, Taraji P. Henson, Colman Domingo, Corey Hawkins, Louis Gossett Jr., and David Alan Grier.
Ciara is set to play an adult version of Nettie in the movie. A younger version of the character will also be played by Halle Bailey.
The Tony-winning musical itself is an adaptation of Alice Walker’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel of the same name.
Bazawule helmed the movie from a screenplay by Marcus Gardley.
“The Color Purple” is set to be released on December 20, 2023.
