UN Secretary-General António Guterres stated that "the current trajectory in the occupied Palestinian territory is blatantly clear and its objective is clearly to undermine the two-state solution, but the international community cannot allow this to happen."
This came in his address on Monday during the opening session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva, according to the UN News website. Guterres drew attention to "the flagrant violations of human rights, human dignity, and international law in the occupied Palestinian territory."
He emphasized that human rights are being violated worldwide, saying, "Human rights are under a comprehensive attack around the world," noting that "the law of force is prevailing over the rule of law." He added, "This attack does not come from the shadows, nor is it sudden; it is happening in broad daylight and is often led by those who possess the greatest power."
