United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has criticized the absence of a permanent seat for Africa on the United Nations Security Council.

In a post on his Twitter account, Guterres emphasized the need for institutions to reflect today's world rather than the world of 80 years ago.

He questioned how the Security Council could lack a single permanent member from Africa.

He added that the upcoming summit in September provides an opportunity to consider global governance reforms and rebuild trust.

In another tweet, Guterres stated that people in Gaza are suffering not only from bombs and bullets but also from a lack of essential resources like food, clean water, electricity, and medicine in hospitals.

The UN chief insisted that this suffering must come to an end.

He continued to assert his unwavering call for an immediate ceasefire for humanitarian reasons and the unconditional release of all hostages.
