United Nations (UN) Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has condemned Israel's suspension of the operations of several international non-governmental organizations (NGOs) in the Occupied Palestinian Territory.
According to a statement issued on Friday by Stéphane Dujarric, Spokesperson for the Secretary-General, Guterres expressed his deep concern over the Israeli authorities' announcement to suspend the operations of several international NGOs in the Occupied Palestinian Territory, calling for the reversal of this measure.
The Secretary-General emphasized that international NGOs are indispensable for life-saving humanitarian work, and that this suspension threatens to undermine the fragile progress made during the ceasefire.
Moreover, he stressed that, under its obligations under international humanitarian law, Israel must allow and facilitate the rapid and unimpeded passage of humanitarian relief to all civilians in need.
Furthermore, UN Boss reaffirmed the necessity of enabling all humanitarian partners to operate safely and in accordance with humanitarian principles.
