On Saturday, the Nigerian Delta State Police Command stated that a police sergeant had been abducted and killed nearby in the Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State.
The deceased policeman, simply known as Sergeant Ifeanyi, was reportedly a member of the Ughelli Area Command's Eagle Net patrol unit at the time of his death.
Although there were few details available at the time of publication, sources claimed that he was kidnapped on Thursday night as he was returning home from work.
Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, Mr. Bright Edafe, confirmed the event on Saturday, stating: "The police officer was coming home after closing from work.
He was intercepted and kidnapped; later, we discovered his dead body. Manhunt for the assailants is on and we will see how we can get them as soon as possible.”
