At least 15 people were killed and 10 others were injured in a landslide in the town of Mania, on the outskirts of the Guinean capital, Conakry, following heavy rains.
The National Agency for Emergency and Humanitarian Disaster Management said in a statement reported by Radio France Internationale that the injured were transferred to a hospital in the neighboring city of Koya, while civil defense forces continue to assist residents in the search for survivors and other victims under the rubble.
"Significant logistical resources have been provided to support the rescue operations, which were carried out in close cooperation with the local population," said Minister of Reconstruction Mory Conde. The area's residents live at the foot of Mount Kakulimma, a dangerous area where the state has previously warned against construction.
