Greek Ambassador to UN Commends Mediation Efforts, Welcomes Gaza Ceasefire Agreement

Greek Ambassador to United Nations, Evangelos Sekeris, praised the extensive and commendable mediation efforts by Egypt, Qatar, and the United States that led to the Gaza ceasefire agreement. 

He stated that Greece warmly welcomes the long-awaited ceasefire and hostage release deal, which, while seemingly fragile, could mark a turning point in establishing lasting stability in the region.

In his remarks during a special UN Security Council session, Ambassador Sekeris emphasized the urgent need to fully implement the agreement so that the Palestinian people can stop counting their dead and all Israeli hostages can return to their families.

Published on his "X" platform account, Sekeris called for accelerating discussions to enhance post-conflict planning to ensure a safe and prosperous future for Palestinians and all people in the region.

 He reiterated the importance of the two-state solution, enabling Palestinians and Israelis to live side by side in peace and security.
