Nikos Dendias, Greece's Foreign Minister is set to land in Cairo on Tuesday and to pay a visit to the Arab League's headquarter, located at El-Tahrir square.

Dendias is scheduled to hold a meeting with the League of Arab States (LAS) and sign a protocol.

On his part, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, the League's General Secretary, said: "This visit is formal and Greece will be granted an observer position."

"This means that the Foreign Minister will be informed about the League's activities by the Secretary-General and he will be invited to attend some of its meetings but without having a voting right," Aboul Gheit added.

This step is considered a success for Greece's diplomacy due to the cordial relationship of Greece with the Arab world.

It is worthy to note that Greece, a UN member, is the sixth state and the first European country to be granted the League's observer position in the Arabian peninsula.

The Greek FM visited Cairo previously to discuss the collaboration relations as well as the Middle East's latest updates.

During his previous visit "Dendias" met a number of the most important officials including Sameh Shoukry, the Minister of Foreign Affairs.

Dendias discussed the bilateral relationships between Egypt and Greece in addition to the political situation and the economic status.

He stressed the importance of strengthening bilateral cooperation relationships in the field of energy.
