“Great Meeting with President Sisi,” Trump Tweets

The US president Donald Trump hailed his meeting with Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi, on the sidelines of G7 summit, in Biarritz, France.

“Great meeting this morning with President Abdel Fattah El Sisi of Egypt at the Hotel du Palais in Biarritz, France,” Trump tweeted.

The meeting tackled various important regional and international issues of common interests.

This is considered Sisi’s 2nd meeting with Trump during this current year. The first one was last April at the White House, when President Sisi visited the US.

Noteworthy, The US is Egypt’s third largest investor in 2017-2018. The US investments in Egypt accounted for 17.7 percent of total investments coming to Egypt.

The volume of US investments in Egypt increased by 22.5 percent to reach US$2244.4 million in 2017-2018 compared to $1832.9 million in 2016 – 2017.

On Sunday, El Sisi held, at his residence in Biarritz, a business lunch with a number of African presidents.

They included Rwandan President Paul Kagame, President of Senegal Macky Sall, President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa, President of Burkina Faso Roch Marc Christian Kaboré and chairperson of the African Union Commission, Moussa Fakih.

The meeting aims at strengthening  African positions during the G7 Summit, which is currently taking place in Biarritz City in France from 24 to 26 August.
