Cairo recently hosted a remarkable "Journey to the East" exhibition featuring 100 works by celebrated Russian painter Vasily Polenov. The exhibition at the Ziad Bakir Art Hall at the Egyptian Opera House was inaugurated by Murad Gatin, Director of Russian Cultural Centers in Egypt, and senior Egyptian cultural officials.

Polenov’s artworks, created during his 1882 journey to Egypt, offer captivating depictions of ancient Egyptian heritage, rural life, and iconic landmarks such as the pyramids, the Sphinx, and the streets of Cairo.

Dr. Natalia Polenova, Polenov’s granddaughter and Director of the Historical and Artistic Museum, shared her family’s deep admiration for Egyptian civilization. She revealed that her great-grandfather’s fascination with Egypt influenced his art, his family, and students. His works vividly capture the grandeur of ancient Egypt alongside the simplicity of daily life, reflecting his profound connection to the country.

As a heartfelt gesture, Dr. Polenova announced that the collection would remain in Egypt as a gift to its people, with plans for it to be displayed in various locations across the country. She expressed her gratitude to the Egyptian Ministry of Culture and Russian Cultural Centers for their support in bringing this exhibition to life. of Renowned Russian Painter Celebrates Egypt’s Legacy
