His Excellency Elkhan Polukhov, the Republic of Azerbaijan's Ambassador to the Arab Republic of Egypt, has delivered an invitation from President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan to His Eminence Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar and Chairman of the Muslim Council of Elders, inviting him to visit the country in November and join the United Nations Climate Summit COP29 in the capital, Baku.
The summit coincides with an anticipated gathering of religious leaders and institutions focusing on climate action and fostering mutual cooperation in interfaith dialogue.
His Eminence warmly welcomed the gracious invitation while extending his regards and appreciation to President Ilham Aliyev.
He expressed his eagerly anticipation to accepting the invitation and participating in COP29, while hoping that it will facilitate substantive discussions on the climate crisis and lead to binding resolutions by major economic powers, ensuring fairness to developing nations which are most impacted by climate change.
