Al Azhar Grand Imam Dr. Ahmed Al-Tayeb met Uzbekistan's ambassador to Cairo Mansur Kelychiv Thursday morning to discuss joint cooperation between Al-Azhar and Uzbekistan.
"Al-Azhar is proud of its extended scientific and strong relations with Uzbekistan," Al-Tayeb stressed to Kelychiv during their meeting at Al-Azhar's headquarters.
Moreover, the Grand Imam asserted that Uzbekistan values science and scholars, adding that it has a great interest in preserving the Islamic heritage. He also reiterated his keenness to strengthen cooperation with the country to achieve mutual benefit.
On his part, the ambassador expressed Uzbekistan's deep gratitude to the Grand Imam, hailing his prominent role in spreading the values of peace, tolerance and dialogue around the world.
He also expressed his great happiness with the progress achieved at the level of mutual scientific relations with Al-Azhar, highlighting his country's constant keenness to benefit from Al-Azhar's expertise.
