Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly said that the Egyptian government will be ready to tender the buildings in the downtown Cairo, and the old Ministries district in June.
Madbouly added in a press conference with a number of ministers following the government meeting: "There was a meeting to utilize the downtown area, and we will be ready to tender this area next June."
This area will be reused while preserving its urban character. People ask, "Do you intend to change the appearance of the buildings?" No, we will preserve them and utilize them to increase the number of tourist rooms and facilities.
During today's press conference, he said: "The entire objective of the tender process is how to utilize state-owned assets and vacated ministry buildings so that they can be reused in a very sound manner while preserving the urban and architectural character of the area. This is a point I have read a lot about."
He added: "because the area is full of heritage buildings of high value. We are working to preserve them and the character of the area itself. However, we are working to utilize them in a very effective way by increasing the number of tourist rooms and facilities that will serve the tourist movement."
Regarding the Pyramids area, the Prime Minister said: “We have also begun the trial operation of the Pyramids area, and I followed what happened during the past day. However, today, thanks to God, things have begun to normalize, as we have set a trial operation period until May.
