The Cabinets Media Center denied the news about the governments failure to pay electricity bills for mosques and obliging worshipers to pay them in order to rationalize expenses to direct them to build new mosques.

The media center stated - in a statement Friday - that it had contacted the Awqaf Ministry, which denied these reports, stressing that it is not true that the government stopped paying electricity bills for mosques and obliging worshipers to pay them in order to rationalize expenses to direct them to build new mosques.

It stressed that the ministry bears paying all electricity bills for mosques in full without collecting them from the worshipers, or charging them with any financial burdens or fees, while the beneficiaries bear the mosques’ accessories, whatever their use (housing, event houses, nurseries, or administrative offices rented to carry out any administrative activity or Commercial or otherwise) their electricity consumption bill, without it being charged on the mosque meter.

It indicated that the replacement and renovation of mosques, as well as the construction of new mosques are spent separately, without affecting the services provided to worshipers in mosques.

The center appealed to all the various media outlets and social media users not to get carried away by these malicious rumors or misleading news that aim to create confusion among public opinion.
