Egyptian authorities have confirmed the official holiday arrangements for Jan. 25, which marks both National Police Day and the anniversary of the Jan. 25 Revolution.

According to an official announcement, the paid public holiday will be observed on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026, instead of Sunday, Jan. 25. The decision applies to employees in government ministries, public authorities and the private sector.

The move is part of the government’s policy to shift official holidays that fall midweek to the end of the working week, allowing employees to benefit from extended breaks while maintaining workflow continuity.

Employees required to work on the designated holiday will be entitled to compensation in accordance with labor regulations.

The holiday commemorates National Police Day, marking the 1952 Battle of Ismailia, as well as the broader national significance of Jan. 25 in Egypt’s contemporary history.
