Egypt’s strategic reserves of key commodities are sufficient to cover up to six months of consumption, with some goods secured for as long as a year, a cabinet spokesman said on Wednesday.

Mohamed Al-Homsani said the government is relying on multiple measures to maintain price stability, including building stockpiles of essential goods and expanding supply through state-affiliated outlets.

He further mentioned that authorities have intensified market oversight to counter hoarding and unjustified price increases, as part of broader efforts to stabilize markets.

"The government is also encouraging public participation in monitoring prices through the Price Radar application, which allows citizens to report violations," he noted.

Furthermore, he affirmed that the system is being closely monitored in line with directives aimed at protecting consumers.

On energy, Homsani said Egypt has taken precautionary steps to address volatility in global markets by building strategic reserves of petroleum products and natural gas, while diversifying import sources.

He added that the government is also expanding exploration activities in cooperation with foreign partners, with plans to increase domestic production in the coming period.
