Google, the US technology and internet services company, has officially announced the rollout of a new feature that allows for email message translation within the Gmail application on mobile devices.
According to the information provided on Google's official website, users of the Gmail app on both Android and iOS devices will now have the ability to translate email messages.
When the system detects content written in a language not included in the user's language settings, a translation banner will automatically appear.
This feature was previously available on the desktop version of Gmail and has now been extended by Google to the mobile application, accessible to users with free personal accounts as well as subscribers of Google Workspace.
The company explains that, for instance, if Arabic is set as the default language of the operating system, a "Translate to Arabic" banner will appear when reviewing emails in a different language.
Once a message is translated, users will have the option to view the original version of the email before translation from the foreign language.
Additionally, the app can be set to automatically translate that specific language each time.
Google further clarifies that from the settings, additional language-specific options are available for users to enable permanent translation or to opt out of translation entirely based on their preferences.
The translation feature in the Gmail app supports over 100 different languages, aiming to aid users in communication without relying on external translation applications or services.
Google has announced that the new feature will be gradually rolled out over the next two weeks to Android users and subsequently to iPhone and iPad users with iOS systems.
