Google unveiled a new feature for Gmail called “AI Inbox”, which uses artificial intelligence to provide users with automated summaries of their most important emails.

The tool, powered by Google’s Gemini AI, aims to save users time by highlighting critical messages without the need to manually scroll through all emails.

The AI Inbox will first be available to participants in Google’s Trusted Tester program, with plans for a wider rollout in the coming months.

This launch is part of Google’s broader effort to integrate AI across its products, including Google Docs, Sheets, and search pages, where features like AI Overviews and AI Mode have already been introduced.

According to CNET, Google will offer some AI-powered tools for free to all Gmail users, while premium features will be reserved for Google One subscribers.

Free features include enhanced Smart Replies, which provide AI-generated responses that better match the context and the user’s tone, AI Overviews, which summarize email threads, and Help Me Write, which drafts complete emails from a single prompt.

For subscribers, Google is introducing AI Overviews for Gmail Search, which allows natural language queries across past emails, and Proofread, which checks grammar, conciseness, word choice, and sentence structure.

These features will initially be available to Google One Ultra and Pro subscribers in the US, with plans to expand to other regions later.

The AI Inbox is seen as the centerpiece of Gmail’s AI enhancements, providing a seamless experience that highlights the emails the AI identifies as most important.

Google says the feature is designed to make email management faster and more efficient for users worldwide.
