Today, the international platform Google is marking International Women's Day (IWD) with a special creative Doodle video.
The Doodle's animated video that has been illustrated by the creative and talented Doodle Art Director Thoka Maer features women in their perse roles in society — from homemakers to scientists.
In the animated video, a mother could be seen busy in her work on a laptop while also taking care of her child, a woman watering the plants, a woman directing a surgery in a hospital, and many more.
In a statement on their Google Doodle page, Google said: "From a mother working from home to a motorcycle mechanic teaching her skills to the next generation, each illustration depicted in today's Doodle is connected by the common thread of how women show up for themselves, their families, and their communities. Happy International Women's Day."
This special day is organized by the UN to recognize the input that women make in education, community development, and environmental groups.
IWD is a global day honoring and commemorating the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women.
On this date every year, the international community celebrates women’s rights and inspires people to act in the ongoing fight for gender equality.
IWD is an official holiday in many countries. In some countries, the tradition sees men honoring their mothers, wives, girlfriends, colleagues, etc., with flowers and small gifts. In some countries, this day also has the equivalent status of Mother’s Day, where children give small presents to their mothers and grandmothers.
International Women's Day aims to commemorate the achievements of women in different spheres while also bringing attention to important issues including gender discrimination that exist even today. It has been observed since 1911.
