Google Announces Most Searched Trends in 2019

Google revealed top internet searches in 2019 in a list that included the most searched songs, celebrities, and hot topics of the year.

2019 in Search lists not only reveal the most popular trends from the past 12 months, but also give insight into the biggest events in the news, politics, sports and entertainment .

According to Insider, in the song category, Lil Nas X's "Old Town Road," Ariana Grande's "7 Rings," and Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper's "Shallow" topped the list, and Grande was the only artist with two tracks in the rankings.

The results showed that a song's popularity can be a result of factors ranging from profound lyrics to flashy music videos. To be clear, these aren't the most-searched for subjects in music; Rather, they're the searches that saw a spike in Google traffic over a period of time in 2019.

Ariana Grande's "Thank U, Next," the pop star listed her ex-partners including Big Sean, Ricky Alvarez, Pete Davidson, and late Mac Miller, expressing her gratitude for each relationship. Fans reacted positively to the song's uplifting message, and the track was Grande's first No. 1 hit on Billboard Hot 100.

Crue were ranked the No. 6 trending artist searched in Google's "Musicians and Bands" category. Unsurprisingly, they share the classification with pop, hip-hop and rap artists, making them the only rock act on the list, according to Forbes' Top 10 highest-earning artists in 2019.

Motley Crue saw a 350 percent increase in streaming on all digital platforms this year, it's safe to say that The Dirt was successful in garnering the band an extensive amount of attention. Thus, they are heading out on the road for the Stadium tour next year with Def Leppard, Poison and Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, Kirstin Wright, a Google Trends expert reported.
