Under the high patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, the Euro-Mediterranean University of Fes (UEMF) hosted a landmark international conference titled "The Future of Human Civilization in the Light of Artificial Intelligence." The summit concluded with the issuance of the "Fes Message," a strategic roadmap designed to ensure that AI serves as a tool for progress rather than a threat to human values.

The event featured prominent global figures, including Dr. Mohammad bin Abdulkarim Al-Issa, Secretary-General of the Muslim World League and Chairman of the Organization of Muslim Scholars, who delivered a keynote address. Joining him were the United Nations High Representative for the Alliance of Civilizations and a distinguished cohort of over 2,000 academics, thinkers, and policymakers representing 75 countries.

The Fes Message: A Call for Ethical Governance

The "Fes Message" emphasizes that while Artificial Intelligence represents a transformative opportunity for human advancement, its development must be anchored in universal values, human dignity, and equity. The participants collectively argued that AI governance must be built on four pillars: transparency, responsibility, accountability, and explainability.

Addressing the risks of algorithmic bias and data quality, the conference called for the establishment of adaptable international regulatory frameworks. These regulations are deemed essential to protecting data privacy and ensuring scientific reliability, particularly in critical sectors like healthcare.

AI as a Strategic Pillar in International Relations

A key takeaway from the summit was the recognition of AI as a strategic lever in global diplomacy. Experts warned against "technological fragmentation," where AI capabilities become concentrated in the hands of a few nations. Instead, they urged for multilateral cooperation to ensure equitable access to technology for all societies.

Furthermore, the conference highlighted the urgent need for robust monitoring and response mechanisms to combat cyber threats, misinformation, and online hate speech. The "Fes Message" advocates for the development of AI models that respect cultural and linguistic specificities, thereby safeguarding digital sovereignty.

Investing in Human Capital

The concluding statement underscored that the foundation of a responsible digital future lies in investing in youth, human capital, and infrastructure. By prioritizing education and cross-cultural dialogue, AI can be directed toward fostering global peace and sustainable development.

The conference featured specialized sessions covering the ethics of AI in healthcare, the revival of shared human values, and future scenarios for civilization in the post-modern age. These discussions solidified the "Fes Message" as a pivotal international document for the strategic oversight of the ongoing technological revolution.
