Global Finance magazine honored on Saturday Governor of the Central Bank of Egypt (CBE) Tarek Amer, on the occasion of his selection among the top 21 global governors this year.
The international magazine held a major celebration on the sidelines of the annual meetings of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank (WB) in Washington.
According to the annual performance evaluation report issued by the magazine, Amer was chosen due to of the central bank's successful efforts to stabilize the Egyptian currency, reduce inflation, successfully manage interest rates, and resilience to financial crises.
Among the honored from the central bank governors are that of Australia, Kuwait, Mexico, Russia, South Korea, Taiwan, the European Union (EU), Saudi Arabia, Britain, the United States and Chile.
It is worth mentioning that Amer won the annual African Banker Award as the best central bank governor on the continent for 2019, last June.
In the meantime, Amer said earlier this month that Egypt is discussing further cooperation with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to help implement new structural reforms.

This came during the annual general meeting at the 2019 Global Policy Forum held in Kigali, Rwanda.
The Alliance explained that Amer will be entrusted with the responsibility of chairing the discussions on facilitating the work of the Alliance as well as the meetings of the Board of Directors and the implementation of responsibilities in accordance with the Regulations of the International Alliance for Financial Inclusion.
