Global Feeder Shipping Launches Egypt–Venice Service Linking Mediterranean, Adriatic Ports

UAE-based Global Feeder Shipping (GFS) launched a new short-sea container service connecting Egyptian ports with Venice, expanding trade links between the Mediterranean and the Adriatic Sea, according to shipping intelligence provider Dynaliners.

The new service, branded Adriatic East–Med (AES), will connect the Egyptian ports of Port Said and Damietta with Koper in Slovenia and Venice in Italy before returning to Port Said.

The rotation will be operated by 1,800 twenty-foot equivalent unit (TEU) container vessels, providing a dedicated feeder connection between Egypt and Northern Adriatic markets.

According to Dynaliners, German container shipping company Hapag-Lloyd has secured slot capacity on the service and will market it under the "AdX" brand. The carrier has already begun promoting the offering alongside its newly launched Intra Adriatic Service (IAS), which links Venice, Ancona, and Rijeka.

Separately, Israeli carrier ZIM has revised its Adriatic Express service by removing Alexandria from the rotation. The updated route will now connect Ashdod, Haifa, Koper, Venice, and Ravenna, before returning to Ashdod.

The launch of the AES service is expected to strengthen feeder connectivity between Egyptian ports and key Northern Adriatic gateways, offering exporters and importers additional routing options into Central and Southern Europe.
