Former New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has issued a scathing critique of the potential return of the Pahlavi monarchy in Iran, following the death of the Ayatollah.

Giuliani, a long-time advocate for Iranian regime change, warned that restoring the monarchy would be a "mistake" that ignores the historical grievances of the Iranian people.

In a recent statement, Giuliani labeled the heir to the former throne a "nepo baby," accusing him of contributing nothing to the cause of Iranian freedom while "living luxuriously off the wealth stolen" from the people.

Giuliani drew parallels to the 1953 coup, backed by the UK, the U.S., and the CIA, which replaced Iranian democracy with what he described as the "crooked and brutal" Pahlavi monarchy. He urged the international community not to repeat the errors of the past.

"The good people of Iran don’t want the homicidal Pahlavi secret police, the Savak, taking over the torture from the Iranian Guard," Giuliani stated, emphasizing that the transition away from the current regime should lead to genuine democracy rather than a return to old autocracies.
