General Mohamed Zaki, Commander-in-Chief of the Egyptian Armed Forces, Minister of Defense approved the appointment of Colonel of Staff of War Gharib Abdel Hafez as the official military spokesman succeeding Brigadier General Staff Tamer Mohamed al-Rifai.
Abdel Hafez was born on April 27, 1978. He graduated from the Military College on January 7, 1999 (the 93rd batch of the Military). He holds a Bachelor of Military Science from the Military College. He performed military educational and training courses such as the basic parachute jump, the classy Sa'ka teachers, the Intelligence Officers Qualification Training Course, and the Master of Military Sciences (College of Commanders and Staff).

He also received an early commander preparation course for distinguished officers from the graduates of the Command and Staff College at the Nasser Higher Military Academy.
Abdel Hafez completed the Command and Control Mechanism and Computer Science course in China, as well as the International Brigade Leaders Course in Germany. He also completed the basic course of media and communication with the public opinion of NATO in Greece, and the course of strategic studies and national security at the Nasser Higher Military Academy.
He also completed a course on decision makers at Nasser Higher Military Academy in addition to a course on Crisis Management and Negotiation. He holds a diploma in human resources from Helwan University and a master's researcher in international relations from the same university.
Abdel Hafez received a diploma in strategic studies from the Faculty of Economics and Political Science, Cairo University. He held all the inevitable jobs in the Signal Corps and worked in the field of command and control mechanism and securing communications for the Air Defense Forces. He also worked in the field of military media.
He was awarded the Military Duty Medal of the second class, the Long Service Medal and the Good Example. Also among the medals that he received were the medals of the 25th anniversary of the October victories, the 50th anniversary of the July revolution, the 25th anniversary of the liberation of Sinai, January 25, 2011 and June 30, 2013.
