On Friday, Sebastian Fischer, the spokesperson of the German Foreign Ministry, told reporters in Berlin that Germany did not violate the Genocide Convention or international humanitarian law. They plan to present a detailed explanation of this before the International Court of Justice.

Nicaragua has requested the court to issue preliminary orders, also known as provisional measures. These measures include immediately suspending Germany's aid to Israel, especially military assistance and equipment, which could be used to violate the Genocide Convention and international law.

The court is expected to take several weeks to deliver a preliminary decision, and Nicaragua's case may continue for years.

Amid the ongoing six-month campaign that continues to devastate Gaza, there are increasing calls for allies to stop supplying arms to Israel. The hearing at the world court on Monday takes place against this backdrop.
