Germany Offers Airlift Aid to Venezuela After Quakes

Germany has offered to deploy military transport aircraft to assist Venezuela following two powerful earthquakes that have left dozens dead and hundreds injured, according to officials.

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius said the Bundeswehr stands ready to provide up to six A400M transport aircraft once an official request is received from Caracas. The planes could be used to deliver emergency personnel, medical supplies, and humanitarian aid, as well as support internal relief logistics.

The offer comes after the US Geological Survey reported that two earthquakes measuring 7.2 and 7.5 struck the region, triggering widespread destruction and prompting urgent rescue operations.

Venezuela’s acting vice president Delcy Rodríguez said early Thursday that at least 32 people have been confirmed dead, while more than 700 others have been injured.

She warned that the toll is expected to rise as search-and-rescue teams continue working through collapsed buildings and reach remote affected areas.

Authorities say emergency response efforts are ongoing, with international assistance being considered as the scale of the disaster becomes clearer.
