Germany, Italy Write off Dual Debts of Sudan

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Sudan said that both Germany and Italy have pledged to write off the dual debts of Sudan that amount to $1.5 billion.

According to a statement issued by the ministry and published by Sputnik, a Russian news agency, the United Kingdom (UK) will allot all its share in the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to pay back Sudan's debts.

On the other hand, the World Bank has decided to exempt Sudan from tens of millions.

However, Al Hadath, an Arab Satellite channel, revealed in breaking news that Sudan’s supporting conference held in Paris, the capital city of France has raised $ 4.4 billion so far.

But  Secretary-General of the Arab League Ahmed Abu El-Gheit expressed his full appreciation to the Sudanese State that takes responsibility despite all hardships at present time.

He explained that Sudan does well to achieve the internal concord and to implement obligations of the transit period.

He praised partners of Sudan who take the side of it that showed in meetings of Sudan’s friends and the conference of partnership held Berlin, the capital city of Germany.

Abu Al-Gheit indicated the other international events, regional initiatives, and the dual support aimed at supporting Sudan.

He added during his speech to Paris’ conference held today, Monday, that the Arab League commits to support Sudan as an important member-state of the league and an active partner in the Arab system.

He went on to say the states, Arab financial institutions led efforts to direct support to Sudan in various fields.

He pointed out that the League has supported Sudan to tackle the humanitarian in Darfur, in the west of Sudan, Coronavirus (known also as  COVID-19), and to cope with the fallouts of floods that hit the country months ago.

In the same context, Sky News, a space channel, unveiled that France, decided today, to write off all debts of Sudan that amount to $ 5 billion.

France’s President Emanuel Macron said that his country supports the full write-off of Sudan’s debts and expects that the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will support such a step by the end of next June.
