A massive fire broke out in an industrial zone in the German city of Freiburg, causing estimated damages of around €75 million, according to police reports released late Monday.
Authorities confirmed that one worker sustained minor injuries, while more than 200 firefighters were deployed to bring the flames under control. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
The fire completely destroyed an industrial complex covering nearly 40,000 square metres in the Hochdorf district. Eight companies were affected, including a pharmaceutical firm.
Freiburg’s Hochdorf industrial area spans around 120 hectares and hosts roughly 260 facilities, ranging from pharmaceutical companies to transport and logistics firms, according to the city’s tourism office.
