German Economy Minister Robert Habeck affirmed, on Friday, that Russian President Vladimir Putin must be stooped.

"We should do everything we can to reduce Putin's power and, in the end, to destroy it," Habeck, who is also German vice-chancellor, told ARD television.

The minister reiterated calls for an immediate stop to energy imports from Russia, adding: "When we can say with oil and gas ... we have secured supply chains, then we can take the next step."

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has stated that many people in Russia were behaving like “traitors” amid war with Ukraine.

Peskov pointed to those who were resigning from their jobs and leaving the country. His comments came after Putin warned Russian “traitors” whom the West wanted to use as a “fifth column” to destroy the country.

“In such difficult times…many people show their true colours. Very many people are showing themselves, as we say in Russian, to be traitors,” Peskov told reporters on a conference call.
