German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock on Tuesday made a surprise visit to the Ukrainian city of Kharkov near the Russian border to the east, pledging more weapons as well as "concrete efforts" to help the country join the European Union.
In a statement prior to her meeting with Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba, Berbock expressed her support and solidarity with "Ukrainians living under the Russian invasion and harsh winter conditions."
"This city is a symbol of the sheer madness of Russia's war aggression in Ukraine", stressing the great suffering of people, especially in the east of the country.
