Local media reported on Tuesday that German fighter jets intercepted a Russian reconnaissance aircraft as it approached German airspace over the Baltic Sea. According to the daily Bild, the Russian spy plane was discovered in international airspace off the German Baltic Sea island of Ruegen on Saturday, prompting a German Air Force alert.

As a result, two Eurofighters took off from the Laage air base in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania in the northeastern state of Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania to escort the Russian plane out of German airspace.

Another suspected Russian violation of Swedish and Danish airspace occurred on Friday, prompting this new incident.

The Swedish Defense Ministry claimed in a statement that a Russian AN-30 propeller plane breached Swedish airspace on Friday evening.

The jet was flying east of Bornholm, a Danish island in the Baltic, before heading toward Swedish territory, according to the ministry.

Denmark summoned the Russian ambassador to the Foreign Ministry following the alleged infringement.
