German Chancellor Olaf Scholz congratulated Muslims on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan,.

He said in a video on social media: “I wish all Muslim women and men a peaceful month of Ramadan," stressing that peace is what the vast majority of Palestinians and Israelis desire.”

On Sunday, Egypt's Dar al-Ifta, officially declared that Monday, March 11, 2024, marks the beginning of Ramadan for the year 1445 Hijri, following the confirmed sighting of the moon crescent. This announcement came after diligent observations by specialized religious and scientific committees throughout the nation on the evening of Sunday, March 10, 2024, concluding the month of Sha'ban, the eighth month in the Islamic calendar.

Ramadan, the ninth month of the Islamic lunar calendar, holds immense significance for Muslims worldwide. It is a time dedicated to fasting, spiritual reflection, and communal harmony, commemorating the period when the Quran was revealed to Prophet Muhammad. During this month, Muslims engage in dawn-to-dusk fasting, refraining from food, drink, and other physical needs, focusing on spiritual growth, self-discipline, and empathy for the less fortunate.
