His Excellency NIKOLOZ APKHAZAVA, Ambassador of Georgia to Egypt, reaffirmed his country’s commitment to deepening bilateral relations during a high-level meeting in Cairo with Sameh Shoukry, Head of the Foreign Relations Committee in the Egyptian House of Representatives.
During the talks, both sides explored ways to enhance cooperation across political, economic, and cultural sectors. They also expressed a strong interest in establishing a parliamentary friendship group between Egypt and Georgia, aimed at strengthening legislative coordination and expanding diplomatic engagement.
Ambassador NIKOLOZ APKHAZAVA described the meeting as an important step toward building a stronger partnership, particularly following his appointment in September 2025. He praised the positive momentum in relations and emphasized the need to translate shared interests into practical cooperation initiatives.
Sameh Shoukry welcomed these remarks, highlighting the solid foundation of Egypt–Georgia relations and the potential to expand collaboration in key areas such as trade, tourism, and international cooperation. He also stressed the importance of enhancing people-to-people ties as a cornerstone of long-term partnership.
The discussions further addressed regional developments and underscored the importance of continued coordination on issues of mutual interest, reflecting a shared commitment to stability and constructive cooperation.
The meeting was attended by Mamuka Corasbediani, Minister Counsellor at the Georgian Embassy in Cairo, who contributed to the discussions.
