Georgia's Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth Thea Tsulukiani said her country will not provide military assistance to Ukraine, as it does not want to get involved in this conflict.
Tsulukiani added that the Georgian authorities will not allow her country to get involved in the war and therefore we Georgia will not be able to provide military assistance to one of the parties to the confrontation in Ukraine.
“Moreover, as far as I know, there is talk of transferring weapons that we bought in an earlier period from Ukraine,” she said.
Tsulukiani, who also holds the position of Deputy Prime Minister in her country, noted that Georgia has suffered and witnessed many armed conflicts, and it is the duty of the authorities to prevent a recurrence of this.
It was reported last week, citing Ukrainian Chargé d'Affaires to Georgia Andrei Kasyanov, that Kyiv had asked Tbilisi to return the Buk air defense systems it delivered to Georgia in 2008.
The reports highlighted that Ukraine had also asked Georgia to hand over the "Javelin" anti-tank systems, which it had previously received from the United States, and Kasyanov said that Georgia had categorically refused to provide military assistance to Ukraine.
