The 43rd President of the United States, George W Bush, had a virtual meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy Friday morning.
“I was honored to spend a few minutes talking with President Zelenskyy – the Winston Churchill of our time – this morning. I thanked the President for his leadership, his example, and his commitment to liberty, and I saluted the courage of the Ukrainian people,” Bush wrote on Instagram.

He added that Zelenskyy assured him that Ukraine “will not waver in their fight against Putin’s barbarism and thuggery.”
“Americans are inspired by their fortitude and resilience. We will continue to stand with Ukrainians as they stand up for their freedom,” Bush concluded.
In the same vein, British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has lauded Zelenskyy as “truly one of the most incredible leaders of modern times”.

Speaking at a fundraising event for Ukraine in London, Johnson said that it was “a blessing for Ukraine and for the world” and “a disaster for Putin” that Zelenskyy was leading in Kyiv.
Titled 'Brave Ukrianians', the event aims to collect funds to bolster humanitarian support to Ukraine.
