Genesis plans to release an electric car in 2021, which will be based on its new EV platform, according to Genesis boss Manfred Fitzgerald on Wednesday.
Fitzgerald confirmed that Genesis is pursuing hydrogen fuel cell technology. It aims to have all alternative powertrain options covered, so a fuel cell-equipped car could be in the automaker's showrooms eventually.

Two models will be spawned from the platform, likely to be a sedan and an SUV. In addition a production version of the Mint hatchback concept is also reportedly.
The Mint has been developed with a G-Matrix pattern that is used for efficient cooling and airflow circulation around the battery floor and is the basis for the vehicle’s aerodynamic wheel design.
Also, it has quad lamps that stretch to the corners in the front and back with top light elements connecting to form wraparound light bands.
Noteworthy, last year Genesis unveiled the Essentia, an electric hypercar concept. This year the automaker decided to debut the Mint, a small luxury battery EV, at the New York International Auto Show.
