The United Nations General Assembly will resume an emergency session to address the Israel-Palestine crisis on Friday.
The Security Council is at an impasse and the situation in Gaza is worsening by the day.
Out of the 110 speakers scheduled to address the Assembly, the session will continue on Friday from 10 AM New York time, according to the UN. The Assembly will vote on a draft resolution proposed by Jordan to tackle the crisis.
Among the expected speakers on Friday are the United States, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and the European Union, the African Union, as well as the League of Arab States.
The session will be convened under the “Uniting for Peace” mandate, empowering the Assembly to act when the Security Council is deadlocked over a critical matter of international peace and security.
This came after Assembly President Dennis Francis called for an immediate and unconditional humanitarian ceasefire and the opening of aid corridors to save lives.
