Grand Egyptian Museum Joint Conservation Project (GEM-JC) team won the Yomiuri International Cooperation award on Monday.

It is worth mentioning that, this award is granted under the auspices of the world-leading Japanese newspaper "the Yomiuri". It is a widely known award in Japan, and it is given to inpiduals and Japanese groups who are making outstanding achievements in the field of international cooperation.

On his part, Masaki Noki, the Japanese ambassador to Cairo confirmed that he visited the GEM conservation center several times, and he was very impressed by the vision of Japanese and Egyptian experts who are working hard together and striving to conserve important artifacts, including those of King Tutankhamun.

He congratulated both the Japanese and Egyptians on this victory, stressing that Japan would continue its cooperation through various activities to transfer and deliver the "treasures and wealth of mankind" to future generations.

In 2016, the Grand Egyptian Museum Joint Conservation Project (GEM-JC) was launched to start the actual conservation of genuine artifacts. Experts from the Japan International Cooperation Center (JICE) and the Tokyo University of the Arts have joined the project.
