The Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), Jasem Albudaiwi, affirmed that the strong international presence at the high-level Conference on the Two-State Solution reflects a genuine global will to grant the Palestinian people their rightful statehood.

Speaking to Al Ekhbariya on the sidelines of the conference, Albudaiwi stressed that the event has increased pressure on Israel to end its violations, describing the widespread condemnations of Israeli actions as "heartening" and a sign of growing international alignment with Palestinian rights.

Global Pressure Mounts on Israel

“The interventions and condemnations of Israel we've heard at this conference are encouraging,” Albudaiwi said. “There must be continued and intensified pressure on Israel to implement international resolutions and stop its repeated violations.”

He emphasized that the conference has resulted in a clear roadmap for the international community to address the situation in Gaza and broader Palestinian issues—once Israel halts its ongoing aggressions.

A Platform Ahead of the UN General Assembly

Albudaiwi noted that the conference is paving the way for meaningful outcomes during the upcoming United Nations General Assembly in September. It lays the foundation for more countries to recognize the State of Palestine and to increase diplomatic pressure on the Israeli occupation.

“The conference provides a solid ground for future UN deliberations,” he added, calling for more countries to take firm and public stances in support of Palestinian statehood.

A Blow to Israel’s Global Standing

According to the GCC Secretary-General, the scale of global participation and unified messaging at the conference unsettled the Israeli government.

“This event disturbed the Israeli side, as it directly witnessed the extent of international pressure and global recognition of Palestine’s right to establish its own state,” he stated. “This is not just a symbolic step; it offers a real platform for initiatives and long-overdue solutions to end the suffering of the Palestinian people.”
