During the opening session of the 45th Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) Summit, Secretary-General Jasem Al-Budaiwi urged the international community to take decisive action regarding the ongoing suffering of the Palestinian people in Gaza and the West Bank due to the continuous Israeli military operations.
He also highlighted the spillover of the conflict into Lebanon, resulting in a dangerous military escalation, and called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza.
Al-Budaiwi emphasized the importance of this session amid sensitive regional conditions and rapid developments, stressing the need for solidarity among GCC member states and reinforcing the foundational principles that have made the GCC a model of unity and integration.
It is worth mentioning, leaders and representatives of GCC countries arrived in Kuwait today, where they were received by Kuwaiti Emir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad, Crown Prince Sheikh Sabah Al-Khalid, and Prime Minister Sheikh Ahmad Al-Abdullah.
The summit convenes under critical regional and global circumstances, aiming to strengthen Gulf cooperation, advance sustainable development, and bolster regional security and stability. Key topics on the agenda include regional security, enhancing Gulf economic integration, and addressing pressing regional and international challenges.
